Update Shmupdate

I thought that I'd find out on Monday whether or not I got the job I recently interviewed for, but the official news did not come until Wednesday.  The bad news is, I didn't get the job I interviewed for, but there is good news too.

My company is going to be rolling out a new position to 25 major markets over the next couple of months and Minneapolis is one of those markets.  There will be five positions filled in Minneapolis and to begin with they will only be hiring from the current Inside Sales group.  The panel members for the Field Sales position I interviewed for will also be involved in hiring for this other new position.  During my interview they asked me if I had applied for the new positon as well, and I confirmed that I had.  When the hiring manager talked to me on Wednesday, he told me that they decided to hire an external candidate that has over 20 years of Field Sales experience.  I can certainly understand that decision.  He also told me that the four panel members had made a formal recommendation that I be hired for the new position.  Great!  If I had gotten the Field Sales position, then Justin and I would have had to move before little Via comes and that would have been a bit crazy to say the least.  Regarding the new position, it's not a done deal, but I remain confident that God has a plan.  It appears that we will be moving to MN before the end of the year, but after we welcome Via into the world.  I'm excited about how it will all play out.

In other news, Justin and I are headed to Jamaica in less than three weeks to celebrate the wedding of our friends Jack and Stephanie!  I'm so excited to have some time away with Justin.  We are staying at Sandals resort in Montego Bay and I may or may not check out the website about every other day.  We haven't been on a real vacation since our honeymoon and we are both absolutely pumped.

I'm working on some crochet projects, and next week I'll post some finished products.

Peace!

Moon Palace Cancun Nizuc - 5 Things I LOVED, and 3 Things I didn't

All-Inclusive vacations may not be everyone's cup of tea, but over the past 6 years I have developed an appreciation (addiction) for taking a vacation where I don't really have to think much.  Between the demands of marriage, parenting, career, housework, and kids activities, it is really nice to pay a sum of money for your vacation and then just......enjoy!  Many all-inclusive resorts include more than just food and beverage.  There is often entertainment, activities, childcare, fitness classes, and plenty to keep you busy without leaving the property or spending additional money.  If you like, you can also book excursions or explore the local area at an extra expense.  We have rarely opted to do anything extra as we are typically happy to take advantage of the included options.   Listen, in my experience, you get what you pay for with, well, almost everything.  And that goes for all-inclusive resorts.  We have gone low-end, mid-range, and h...

Our Creator is not a Careless Mechanic

On Friday, November 2, Justin and I headed to our 41 week and 1 day checkup.  I had been having consistently inconsistent contractions for days, but.......Still.No.Baby.  My doctor wanted to monitor me and Via for half an hour and was looking for us to score 10 out of 10 points.  After half an hour of monitoring us she only found 6 points - also my blood pressure was much higher than it had been during the rest of my pregnancy.  Justin and I listened as she explained that the placenta may not be doing the best job for the baby anymore.  She looked at me and said, "If you were the type of mom that was planning to have an epidural, then I'd say let's go to the hospital, put you on pitocin, and have this baby."  She went on to say that since we favored a drug-free approach we had two options: 1.  Go to the hospital and be monitored for 24 hours to see if we could make up the 4 points we were missing.  If all looked good, then we could go ...

Sun Palace - July 2022

We are on our way home from our 6th Annual Away and it occurred to me that I take the fewest pictures on these trips. I don’t use or look at my phone very much because I like to unplug as much as possible and do “perfect day” activities. That means fewer pictures, but usually more enjoyment.  I think it’s a fun game to explore what would make up an individual’s perfect day. Once you have figured out what a perfect day looks like you can incorporate those types of moments and activities into more of your regular days. For example, my perfect day consists of going for a walk and seeing the beach. I can’t do a beach walk every day, but almost any day I can go for a regular walk and enjoy fresh air and a mental reset. I can create a “perfect day moment.” I have had a lot of perfect day moments the last 5 days and 4 nights at Sun Palace, but notably missing was time with my kids. Therefore, I can’t wait to get home! We arrived to Sun Palace on a Wednesday. Our good friends had been ther...
