2 Years and 4 Month

***Posting this late because I had issues with pictures loading properly again.  Written on March 5 and posted on March 16.***

Yesterday Via was 2 years and 4 months old.  She is truly a treat to be around.  She asks so many questions.  She loves to wear dresses.  She closes her eyes so tight when we pray before meals and at bedtime.  Via likes to put things on the table at meal times. She is sometimes mean to her younger brother, but mostly she is a good big sister.

Physical Milestones:  Via can jump!  She can get both feet off the ground and loves to prove it.  Via is potty-trained!  We are a cloth-diapering family and it's great to be back to only laundering for one baby.

Eating:  3 meals and 2 snacks.  Lots of fruits and veggies, but much like her parents she has a major sweet tooth.  We are all trying to be more self-controlled.  She loves veggies and hummus!

Sleep:  We put the kids to bed by 7:45 p.m. most nights, but sometimes we need to go in to Via at around 8:30 to sing her a song and remind her it's time to go to sleep.  She wakes up between 6 and 7 and takes 1 nap a day.  She isn't feeling well right now so she's been crushing her afternoon nap.  As I type this she has exceeded two hours and is still snoozing.

Words:  Oh this sweet child is such a funny conversationalist.  She has so many words and is quite interactive.  Sometimes she will be telling us something and then kind of falter off.  She then says, "I don't know what that word is," and then keeps talking.  It's so cute and funny!  She's quite the parrot and Justin and I find ourselves being more and more mindful of the words we speak because we know we will hear our two-year old copying us.

On to the pics.  I snuck in a few more of Little Man as well.  :)

I do a thing where I talk to Via without letting my teeth show.  She can't handle it, but she always loves it.  She says, "Mommy do your silly thing!"

 Playing dress up.

 I love this lady.

 Getting huge.

Clapping in the kitchen.  Soren loves to get all the pans out and play with them.

 Focus.

His "determined" face.

Moon Palace Cancun Nizuc - 5 Things I LOVED, and 3 Things I didn't

All-Inclusive vacations may not be everyone's cup of tea, but over the past 6 years I have developed an appreciation (addiction) for taking a vacation where I don't really have to think much.  Between the demands of marriage, parenting, career, housework, and kids activities, it is really nice to pay a sum of money for your vacation and then just......enjoy!  Many all-inclusive resorts include more than just food and beverage.  There is often entertainment, activities, childcare, fitness classes, and plenty to keep you busy without leaving the property or spending additional money.  If you like, you can also book excursions or explore the local area at an extra expense.  We have rarely opted to do anything extra as we are typically happy to take advantage of the included options.   Listen, in my experience, you get what you pay for with, well, almost everything.  And that goes for all-inclusive resorts.  We have gone low-end, mid-range, and h...

Our Creator is not a Careless Mechanic

On Friday, November 2, Justin and I headed to our 41 week and 1 day checkup.  I had been having consistently inconsistent contractions for days, but.......Still.No.Baby.  My doctor wanted to monitor me and Via for half an hour and was looking for us to score 10 out of 10 points.  After half an hour of monitoring us she only found 6 points - also my blood pressure was much higher than it had been during the rest of my pregnancy.  Justin and I listened as she explained that the placenta may not be doing the best job for the baby anymore.  She looked at me and said, "If you were the type of mom that was planning to have an epidural, then I'd say let's go to the hospital, put you on pitocin, and have this baby."  She went on to say that since we favored a drug-free approach we had two options: 1.  Go to the hospital and be monitored for 24 hours to see if we could make up the 4 points we were missing.  If all looked good, then we could go ...

Sun Palace - July 2022

We are on our way home from our 6th Annual Away and it occurred to me that I take the fewest pictures on these trips. I don’t use or look at my phone very much because I like to unplug as much as possible and do “perfect day” activities. That means fewer pictures, but usually more enjoyment.  I think it’s a fun game to explore what would make up an individual’s perfect day. Once you have figured out what a perfect day looks like you can incorporate those types of moments and activities into more of your regular days. For example, my perfect day consists of going for a walk and seeing the beach. I can’t do a beach walk every day, but almost any day I can go for a regular walk and enjoy fresh air and a mental reset. I can create a “perfect day moment.” I have had a lot of perfect day moments the last 5 days and 4 nights at Sun Palace, but notably missing was time with my kids. Therefore, I can’t wait to get home! We arrived to Sun Palace on a Wednesday. Our good friends had been ther...
