Shame on Me and Baby Number 3

Baby number 3 is due late July/early August and I have yet to do anything more than mention I am pregnant.  I am PREGNANT!

Early on we I decided that since we have a boy and a girl we should not find out the gender of this baby until delivery.  Apparently, these days, that's easier said than done.  At my 20 week ultrasound the tech did a great job of not disclosing the gender.  She did the full check of everything and at the end she said, "Great news!  It looks like a very healthy boy or girl."  Ah bummer.  I was hoping she'd slip.  The doctor said the same thing, "Baby looks great!"  He did have one concern about my placenta though and ordered a follow-up ultrasound to make sure the placenta had moved to a safer place before delivery.

Seriously?!?!?  I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to make it through another ultrasound of not finding out the gender.  Well, that was today, and I successfully didn't ask or see.  Go me!  I also found out that the placenta has moved a lot and my pregnancy is no longer considered "high risk." Great news!

What else did I see today?  The sweetest thing ever.  We were watching baby move around and had a great profile view.  Baby gave the cutest yawn.  I mean so cute that the tech replayed it a couple of times.  We were melting.  It was just adorable.  Can't wait to see those newborn yawns live and in person.  That yawn is actually what prompted me to want to do a little bit of documenting tonight.

I was a blogging machine through Via's pregnancy and newborn days.  Pretty much like clockwork I did a weekly recap.  Then with Soren I was doing good if I did a monthly update.  Now, I'm almost 25 weeks in and have done nada, zip, zilch.  Poor sweet baby.  We really are excited to meet you!  I could have watched that yawn over and over and over again today, because you are real and you are coming, and life is going to change again.  It will likely get more trying.  The hard days will be harder, but the good days will be fuller and brighter because you will be adding your personality to our family and home.  I can't wait to meet you, and I wouldn't mind at all if you decide to be a little more punctual than your older brother and sister in making your entrance to this world.  15 or 16 weeks and counting.

Baby's knee to nose and foot to forehead.  Baby yoga in the womb.

Moon Palace Cancun Nizuc - 5 Things I LOVED, and 3 Things I didn't

All-Inclusive vacations may not be everyone's cup of tea, but over the past 6 years I have developed an appreciation (addiction) for taking a vacation where I don't really have to think much.  Between the demands of marriage, parenting, career, housework, and kids activities, it is really nice to pay a sum of money for your vacation and then just......enjoy!  Many all-inclusive resorts include more than just food and beverage.  There is often entertainment, activities, childcare, fitness classes, and plenty to keep you busy without leaving the property or spending additional money.  If you like, you can also book excursions or explore the local area at an extra expense.  We have rarely opted to do anything extra as we are typically happy to take advantage of the included options.   Listen, in my experience, you get what you pay for with, well, almost everything.  And that goes for all-inclusive resorts.  We have gone low-end, mid-range, and h...

Our Creator is not a Careless Mechanic

On Friday, November 2, Justin and I headed to our 41 week and 1 day checkup.  I had been having consistently inconsistent contractions for days, but.......Still.No.Baby.  My doctor wanted to monitor me and Via for half an hour and was looking for us to score 10 out of 10 points.  After half an hour of monitoring us she only found 6 points - also my blood pressure was much higher than it had been during the rest of my pregnancy.  Justin and I listened as she explained that the placenta may not be doing the best job for the baby anymore.  She looked at me and said, "If you were the type of mom that was planning to have an epidural, then I'd say let's go to the hospital, put you on pitocin, and have this baby."  She went on to say that since we favored a drug-free approach we had two options: 1.  Go to the hospital and be monitored for 24 hours to see if we could make up the 4 points we were missing.  If all looked good, then we could go ...

Sun Palace - July 2022

We are on our way home from our 6th Annual Away and it occurred to me that I take the fewest pictures on these trips. I don’t use or look at my phone very much because I like to unplug as much as possible and do “perfect day” activities. That means fewer pictures, but usually more enjoyment.  I think it’s a fun game to explore what would make up an individual’s perfect day. Once you have figured out what a perfect day looks like you can incorporate those types of moments and activities into more of your regular days. For example, my perfect day consists of going for a walk and seeing the beach. I can’t do a beach walk every day, but almost any day I can go for a regular walk and enjoy fresh air and a mental reset. I can create a “perfect day moment.” I have had a lot of perfect day moments the last 5 days and 4 nights at Sun Palace, but notably missing was time with my kids. Therefore, I can’t wait to get home! We arrived to Sun Palace on a Wednesday. Our good friends had been ther...
